Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area
Twenty wayside panels were designed for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, including two highly interactive custom panels. The Henley Company team was asked to think outside the “box” and develop new ways of using the wayside format.
The result was two innovative approaches. A 3-D interactive wayside, with custom designed and fabricated aluminum framed 3-D glasses; and a wayside with a Porsche reproduction operable steering wheel to accompany. We provided interpretive planning, graphic design, research, and writing, prototype exhibit development, fabrication, and installation for the project. Panels incorporated graphic acknowledgement of multiple partners within the Recreation Area. The management process allowed time for multiple presentations and reviews by NPS representatives and their partners, and time for incorporation of comments.
